Stand with Planned Parenthood

| Jacqueline M.

A supporter sent this to Planned Parenthood. We couldn't have said it better. If you agree, sign on:

This is for all the anti-choice, anti-women people out there.

Listen up.

You can spend every minute of every day trying to force the rest of us to live by your ideology. You can go after federal funds for health care and pressure private organizations like the Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation to stop funding breast cancer screenings for poor women. You can try to make it impossible to get birth control.

But you know what you can't do? You can't win. You can't break us. Planned Parenthood isn't just a family of organizations. It's a movement. It's women and men of all ages who believe that health care — including reproductive health care — is a basic human right. We are millions strong. We are everywhere. We act, we give, and we do whatever it takes to make sure that Planned Parenthood is there for the women, men, and teens who rely on them.

Know this: When you go after Planned Parenthood and the people they serve, you go after ME. I stand with Planned Parenthood. I stand with them against anyone who wants to stop women from receiving the health care they need.
I stand with them today, tomorrow, and for as long as I need to.

I am watching!!

I stand with those who support reproductive rights, and with those who believe that affordable health care with access granted for all people is a right shared by all citizens of this country and ideally all people of this world.

In this country, we consider life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness to be inalienable rights, so access to affordable and excellent quality health care is one of the primary ways we can ensure those basic inalienable rights are protected. Inalienable means "incapable of being alienated, surrendered, or transferred." Those who attack access to healthcare are actually attacking your right to life, liberty and happiness. Ironic, don't you think?

I believe in Planned Parenthood!

I fully agree. In my opinion, anti-choice folks have already lost, they just don't know it yet. One day they'll wake up staring a hundred million women in the face, and with them, a hundred million men who love their wives, daughters, grand daughters and women as yet "unborn." Yes! I love women and I want our daughters to know that I do care about them.

Instead of fighting each other and playing dirty politics, why don't you fight for the health rights of women? Put their health and well being first! There are too many issues out there that are so important! As women we need to stand strong. The men in politics are fighting like little pre-schoolers. Unite and take back the power of adulthood. Make your vote count! Make this country safe for everyone including women! And don't allow organizations that bow to these people who belittle our health concerns your time or your money! I will no longer support Susan G. Komen. They have shown their true colors. No longer pink but yellow!

02.03.12 @ 1:55PM | Lucy Springs

I stand firm on this and urge not to screw with this issue!

This funding means so much to mother's, wives, girlfriends, daughters, grandmothers and the like. Please keep this wonderful program and support going-- so many are counting on it! Everyone deserves to be proactive in their health.

So disappointed in The Komen Foundation!

Planned Parenthood & the Susan G. Komen Foundation is helping so many women. I will stand with them against anyone who wants to stop women from getting the healthcare they need & deserve.

In a country founded on the principals of separation of church and state and that is proud of the principles upon which is was built -life, liberty and freedom, including the right to make choices how dare you use your political clout to take away a woman's right to woman to practice birth control and to choose. You may attach Planned Parenthood and try to use your political clout to stop funding by other woman's organization but you can not now or ever will be able to stop woman from voting against you. Furthermore, woman have the ability to choose which organizations to support - and you can bet that Planned Parenthood is now going to get the funds that were originally sent to Susan B Koman. Congratulations you are now responsible for financially crippling the organization that has done more for fighting breast cancer than any other organization. Go have a nice tea party and be proud of what you have done. PS I am a practicing Catholic and would never have an abortion- my right to chose, and that choice is one I will fight for and against you.

I support women's rights to health and choice.

02.02.12 @ 4:20PM | Katie Wegner

Agree with everything this says!

02.02.12 @ 3:39PM | Barbara Thomas

Politicians do not get to decide personal matters regarding the health choices women are fully capable of making. It will not be tolerated.

This year, I added Planned Parenhood to my giving campaign at work. This means that every paycheck I give a small donation to PP! I added PP to my list because I resent the attacks by the Right Wing on Women's basic healthcare needs and rights. I believe that health care decisions should be a private matter between a patient and a medical provider. I value my taxes being used to fund organizations like PP! I think that this is a wise use of tax dollars. I believe we live in a democracy not a theocracy. There is no state religion and our government should not bow to any religion when it makes a decision. I do not belive in war, yet I cannot stop my taxes from being used for this "lawful" killing. I stand with Planned Parenthood and will continue my support!

Elected servants should focus on making health services, including those offered by Planned Parenthood, available to every woman in America, not on imposing their personal restrictions on those services. For those who value the Constitution, remember the Right to Privacy and respect womens' choices about their own healthcare.

02.02.12 @ 11:26AM | Heather Kahai

Healthcare should be universal to all and not to who you choose. Keep your church and your Puritan beliefs away from my body.

02.02.12 @ 10:22AM | Lyn Smith

By restricting access to fundamentally essential health care procedures such as regular reproductive health screenings, people are increasing the cost of health care to us all. Cutting funding to Planned Parenthood makes it harder for lower income women and men to get the care they need to stay healthy and, while it may seem cold to put in such terms, working. The fact is is that people who are ill are more often than not absorbing societies resources as opposed to adding to them via being members of a workforce. Keeping all people as healthy as possible is really in the best interest of everyone! Aside from those types of brass tacs, it would seem to me that whether or not a person supports all of the actions of planned parenthood, if they are truly concerned about human welfare, they would not want to deny these essential services to anyone. It is no secret that the organization is responsible for performing abortions which seems to be the real problem, and I think we can all agree whether we are pro-choice or pro-life that it is not a happy thing, it is not a choice to be lightly and it is not a choice to be made under pressure; but it is a choice. A choice that is currently protected by law, regardless of the feelings of some individuals. That being said, to cut funding to this organization for ideological reasons is ignorant, shortsighted, and damaging to the whole of the population.

in your face, Susan Komen!

We must protect reproductive rights, or we will surely turn into a third world country.

Support Women's Health!

This is the biggest mistake ever made by what seemed to be a caring organization. Since when did philosophical arguments become more important than actual public health issues? WOMEN ARE THE 50.8%, who will take care of us?! I only hope Planned Parenthood raises enough funds to provide their services in even more locations than before!

How dare they take this funding from women that need it the most. The poor those without health insurance. I will tell every person I know to donate any funds directly to planned parenthood, just like i just did
