Sandra Fluke to Congress: I Have a Say

| Morgan S.

When Sandra Fluke was denied the chance to testify before Congress on the importance of birth control access – an issue she was more than qualified to speak on considering she’s a woman who uses birth control –a nerve was struck with millions of women and men around the world (yes, WORLD!). And it wasn’t just those in support of Obama’s birth control benefit either; people on both sides of the debate agreed that women deserve a seat at the table, regardless of the topic at hand. It’s 2012 and it’s common sense.

Thanks to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and other Democrats, Sandra finally got her chance to speak out at an unofficial hearing yesterday morning. It was great – but perhaps the best part was that Sandra wasn’t speaking alone at all. Women across the country backed her up online, showing their support and joining the discussion. On the internet, the table is big enough for all women to have a say. Here’s proof:

Can I also have a chance to speak in front of congress?. I am a woman who has used birth control and paid for it on her own. I am also a college graduate that planned her family and was not a mother until her late 30's. I do not believe the government should be involved in my sex life at all. The insurance companies are businesses created to make a profit, therefore the money to pay for this program will end up in everyone's wallet, they are not charities. As a woman my health concerns are more along the lines of breast cancer research and heart disease, they are both taking large numbers of women's lives every year. How can we keep the government out of our uterus but ask government to pay for what we do to with it? Either you want them to have a say or not! The best way to keep them out of our bedroom is not to take any money at all, Or are you just another interest group that says is good for me but not for you? Makes me think what are you true motives in this and all other woman issues.
