Yesterday, Republican Senator Olympia Snowe of Maine announced her retirement from the United States Senate. Today, she spoke with MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports on a number of issues, including the latest debate over birth control. When asked what she thought of Senator Roy Blunt’s amendment which would allow any employer to deny health care coverage based on a so-called “moral conviction,” Senator Snowe responded:
"With respect to the Blunt amendment, I think it’s much broader than I could support. I think we should focus on the issue of contraceptives and whether or not it should be included in a health insurance plan and what requirements there should be."
