"I rise in strong opposition to this legislative stunt to repeal health care reform. . . . Let’s fix what needs fixing and let’s not repeal this lifesaving, life-enhancing legislation." (YouTube)
Who we're watching
“Rep. Pence's amendment has one goal--to undermine women's access to basic, preventive healthcare and the women's health providers they rely on in their communities. I oppose this amendment and efforts to deprive women access to essential healthcare services.” (Extension of Remarks record during the Pence amendment, which would bar Planned Parenthood health centers from providing preventive health care through federal programs.)
About Shelley Berkley (NV)
For more than a decade, Shelley Berkley has stood shoulder to shoulder with Planned Parenthood and Nevada women as an advocate, ally, and friend. From women’s rights to family planning to reliable health care, Nevadans can count on Shelley Berkley.
That’s why Planned Parenthood Action Fund stands with Shelley Berkley.
If actions speak louder than words, then Shelley’s record demonstrates a deep-seated commitment to the most pressing issues affecting women. She recently co-sponsored a measure that would require health plans to cover hospital stays, and secondary consultations, for the treatment of breast cancer.
She also stood with Planned Parenthood when ideological opponents of women's health in Congress tried to strip away basic preventive health care like birth control and cancer screenings, putting at risk over 13,500 women in Nevada alone.
Nevada's senior senator and a champion of women’s health, Harry Reid, narrowly edged out his opponent in the 2010 election. And 2012 promises a similarly close race for Nevada’s other Senate seat, but this year, we have a rare opportunity to unseat a chump, and replace him with a champ.
Shelley’s opponent, Senator Dean Heller, has already amassed an alarming record against women’s health and reproductive rights, issue positions at odds with the majority of Nevadans. More alarming still, his positions seem to derive from knee-jerk reactions that place women’s health behind political expedience.
The Nevada Senate race is among the most critical and exciting in the coming election. The entire country is watching, and we need to let Shelley Berkley — and Dean Heller — know that women are watching, too.

More Quotes from Shelley Berkley
"There isn’t a woman in my family that has not died from breast cancer. . . . I hope that this resolution will increase the awareness of this dreaded disease that hits almost every household in the United States and causes such pain and suffering. Let us be aware of it and let us use this opportunity to educate our fellow citizens so that they can receive the treatment they need in a timely manner so they don’t suffer as my entire family has."
