"So we now know the Republicans' real agenda: to roll back women's health and rights. They have shown their true colors by trying to weaken rape and incest exceptions for abortions. . . . But I think it raises an important question: If Republicans are willing to redefine what constitutes rape and incest, what are they going to try next? Enough is enough. It is time for the Republican majority to respect women's important life decisions, and it is time that they start to stand and start to refocus on the priorities of this country right now — jobs and growing the economy." Who we're watching
“I think everyone expected this Congress to be focused on jobs and the economy — that’s what all the candidates ran on last year. But what we’re finding instead is that an extreme agenda is emerging, and part of it looks kind of like a war on women.” (YouTube, 5/5/11)
About Tammy Baldwin (WI)
As the first openly gay Congresswoman, Tammy Baldwin is no stranger to breaking boundaries. And if that penchant for trailblazing is any indication, she will make history again next November as Wisconsin’s next U.S. Senator.
But that’s not the reason she has a 100 percent rating from Planned Parenthood Action Fund.
Tammy earned that rating because she is a true champion of women’s health — especially when it comes to expanding birth control and comprehensive sex-education programs. During a committee hearing in April 2011, Tammy offered an amendment to preserve funding for state teen sex-education programs.
More recently, Tammy stood with Planned Parenthood in opposing legislation that would have barred Planned Parenthood health centers from providing preventive health care to 59,152 Wisconsin women through federal health programs. She also stood with women’s health advocates in support of the Affordable Care Act, the historic reform of America’s health-care system.
But in Wisconsin and throughout the country over the past two years, opponents of reproductive rights have attacked advancements in women’s health, targeting everything from sex education to family planning to preventive services.
Candidates and elected officials need to know that women’s health and reproductive rights are values worth fighting for. We won’t back down, and neither will Tammy.

More Quotes from Tammy Baldwin
"I think everyone expected this Congress to be focused on jobs and the economy — that’s what all the candidates ran on last year. But what we’re finding instead is that an extreme agenda is emerging, and part of it looks kind of like a war on women. We’ve seen an effort to completely zero-out family planning in the United States, we’ve seen an attack on the organization Planned Parenthood and an effort to defund that organization and just this week a very extreme bill came to the floor of the House which would actually raise taxes on any small business or individual woman who wanted to purchase with her own private dollars insurance that had comprehensive reproductive health benefits. This really is going too far. It’s too extreme." (YouTube)
"Well there is one question that every woman in America ought to be asking our new House Republican leadership and that is ‘Why, instead of focusing on job creation and bolstering our economy, are you so intent on taking away my rights and my choices?"(YouTube)
"Pro-choice advocates are engaged in a battle for freedom. Their advocacy is not only vital for equal access to health care for women, but for equal rights for women. I encourage them to never give up this important fight, and to remember that we live in a Democracy [sic] and therefore we decide what is possible. I will never waiver in my support for choice for all women." (Press Release)
"Essentially, what Roe v. Wade says is that women matter. Women could have legal control over their own bodies, and could decide when or whether to carry a child. A woman should not have to sacrifice her health or her life to carry a child. These decisions should be between a woman, her doctor, her family, and whomever else she chooses to consult."
