Title X and State Family Planning Programs
Title X, the nation’s family planning program, has been key to helping millions of American women prevent unintended pregnancies and obtain preventive health care for almost four decades.
Unfortunately, politicians at the federal and state level have been slashing Title X and other family planning funds and threatening the health of low-income women and families ─ patients who need it the most.
Title X and state family planning programs:
- Provide affordable birth control to prevent unintended pregnancies.
- Keep women healthy by detecting breast and cervical cancer at early stages.
- Provide testing and treatment for sexually transmitted infections, screen for high blood pressure, and provide immunizations.
- Serve millions of low-income individuals at more than 4,500 health centers every year.
- Save taxpayers money by investing in affordable, preventive health care.
Every public dollar invested in family planning saves taxpayers nearly four dollars ─ a cost savings to both federal and state governments.
Some elected officials and candidates are attempting to completely eliminate Title X nationally, or severely slash state family planning budgets -- making it a priority to prevent women from accessing health care.
